Guests can easily borrow Reusables without signing up in advance by tapping their Student Card or Credit/Debit Card (depending on your setup) at the point of sale on the Reusables Checkout Device.

This enables reusers to take accountability for the container in case they don’t return it in the allowed return period. Upon tapping their card, the user is not being charged. However, if they hold the container past the allowed return period, their card will be charged for the cost of the container. This charge is refundable for the next 30 days if the reuser brings back the container and uses one of the return methods to return the container. Users are prompted by the staff to provide their phone number to sign up for return reminders to avoid late charges. Reusables Recommendation We recommend you always ask students to provide a phone number when the popup appears on the Reusables Checkout Device so these students receive SMS messages reminding them to return on time. 1. Is this a pre-authorization? Yes, when using credit/debit. You will only be charged if you pass the due date.
2. I see a charge on my account but I want to bring back my container. Can I do so? Yes, guests can return any late containers up to 30 days past the due date for a full refund.
